Many oceans in the world such as the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, etc. are constantly being contaminated thoughtlessly by people. Although all of us know that the water is a vital natural source to keep living, we still insist on to pollute our waters incomprehensibly, unfortunately. Even if it is hard to believe that 6,5 million tons of litter enter the world’s oceans each year, preventative and effective solutions may be put forward to protect our waters from being polluted nonetheless. Now then, what can be these solutions?
The first solution is probably enact stricter regulations. If we consider that there are more than 50 % of industrial goods are transported by the sea today, we can see that there is a huge amount of fuel or other petroleum products spill into the waters by daily ship transportations. Governments may put a daily ship entrance limit to every harbor to reduce pollution caused by ships. By this way, both marine life and ocean ecosystems can be preserved a bit more.
The second solution is to use reusable plastic bottles. As it is known, an average time for a plastic bottle to completely disappear in the waters is at least 450 years. In addition, marine mammals that cannot digest these plastic products die in a suffer. Considering the number of plastic bottles that are thrown away to the waters every day, reusing plastic bottles can significantly reduce ocean pollutions.
The third solution is to protect our waters by individually. For instance, when we go to the beach, we should bring something to keep our trash in or we can prevent the rubbish from being thrown to the sand by anyone else. Another suggestion that can be made individually is to prevent the wastes from getting into the sea by using a filter in the sink during washing up. As a result, every individual step to preserve oceans can turn into a big awareness movement.
To sum up, it is an undeniable fact that oceans are very important natural resources for all living organisms. I believe that we individually can find a way to keep our oceans clean in any circumstances. Otherwise, to find somewhere to live will no longer be possible in the world in a short time in the future.
